Lake Keowee Engagement | Madeleine & Hunter

Madeleine and Hunter were engaged on a beautiful fall day at Lake Keowee!

It was a warm and sunny day, which was unusual this late in November. Hunter and Madeleine came from New Mexico to visit Madeleine’s parents at their new lake house on Lake Keowee for Thanksgiving. Hunter decided to do the proposal after church so they would be dressed nicely. They came outside to the dock together to feed the ducks and geese, and Hunter proposed! Madeleine thought she was supposed to kneel down too when she said yes.

I was hiding in the woods across the water, which I thought would be shady, but I realized when I got there that all the leaves were gone and there was no shade, so I stayed far away and behind a thick tree. Hunter pointed me out to Madeleine after the proposal so we could say hi. I had parked at a public marina and walked to the woods from there, then drove back to the house to go meet everyone after the proposal. They asked if the geese were in the background for the proposal photos and were really excited when I told them they were. Madeleine’s family was decorating the house inside and said they needed a little time, so I took photos outside with Hunter and Madeleine until they were ready. Her family came outside for hugs when they were done decorating and then invited them inside. They already had a cake, balloons, flowers, champagne, and buttons (a family tradition). They’d kept it all hidden, like putting the cake and flowers in a cooler in the garage, where Madeleine wouldn’t come across it.

It was a beautiful day for a proposal and I loved meeting Hunter, Madeleine, and Madeleine’s family. Enjoy some of my favorite photos from their engagement on Lake Keowee! If you’re still looking for a photographer, read more about my elopement and engagement photography!

More from Upstate South Carolina

Ready for the best day ever?

My name is Christine (Scott) Gow and I’m an elopement photographer based out of Greenville, South Carolina. I’m a wife and a beagle mom. The three of us have visited beautiful places in every corner of South Carolina, to include all 48 of our state parks. We love finding new outdoor places to visit, but we also love hanging out on the couch and watching Pixar movies.

One thing I love about South Carolina is that it’s not just the beaches and colorful houses that you imagine when you picture it. Whether you’re looking for mountains, beaches, or anything in between; I can help you find the perfect place for the two of you and make it as smooth of a day as possible. No matter how you two choose to spend your day, I’m happy you’re doing it the way that you want.

I can’t wait to meet you!
