On New Year’s Eve in 2020, I did Katie and Matt’s elopement photos at Clemson. They were married in the amphitheater, then we went to the botanical gardens and the football stadium afterwards for photos. 3 years later, they’re expecting their first child and asked me to take photos in the same places!
This time, we mostly focused on the botanical gardens. It was mid-March and we started to see some pink all around the gardens. Since Katie and Matt eloped in the winter, there wasn’t really any desert scenery at that time, so we made sure we got a few photos in the desert garden. It was such a beautiful spring day, and golden hour light on cactus and succulents is so pretty!
We didn’t originally plan to come back to the main part of campus, but we ended up recreating some of their wedding photos, which was super fun. The stadium had been renovated since their wedding, so even though it was the same place, it doesn’t look the same. Since Katie and Matt’s wedding ceremony was in the amphitheater, basically the center of campus, they’ll someday take their daughter here and tell her why this place is so special. Not every child gets to come back to where their parents were married!
It’s always an honor to be part of someone’s story, but this was actually my third time working with Katie—her graduation, her wedding, and her maternity. It was awesome to see her and Matt again and be part of making some awesome Clemson memories!
