Proposal at Chimney Rock | Kim & Coleman

Kim and Coleman have lived in several places around the country. They currently live in Charleston, but they both miss the mountains. Coleman knew that he wanted to propose to Kim in the mountains, so they made a trip to the Asheville area. They had never been to Chimney Rock State Park before, but they knew that the view would be beautiful.

We made sure to get to the park as soon as it opened to get the best possible lighting and to minimize the number of people who would get there. I knew that if I got on the elevator before them, then I would be ahead of them by at least the amount of time it takes for the elevator to go back down 26 stories and come back up. I was the first person at the overlook, so I had the view to myself for a few minutes as I got the right camera settings. When Kim and Coleman got to the overlook, it was only the three of us there, so it was a private moment when he proposed.

After we took some photos at the overlook, we took a few photos in the elevator tunnel before we drove down to the Lake Lure Flowering Bridge. It was a perfect spring morning with beautiful weather and lots of flowers in bloom. Kim noticed that one of the bricks said, "I love you Kimberly. Will you marry me?" It didn't have a second person's name on it, so we just pretended that it was put there for her.

I can't get over how beautiful Kim's ring is! I love when people deviate from the norm, and I love color. Kim's ring had a light blue stone with a gold band.

Coleman and Kim had come in nicer clothes to Chimney Rock, but since the pass for Chimney Rock is good all day, they decided to come back later with their dog and do some hiking. In the end, it was the most beautiful weekend to come to Chimney Rock, which made for a perfect engagement day.

Enjoy some of my favorite photos of Kim and Coleman's engagement at Chimney Rock!

My name is Christine (Scott) Gow and I’m an elopement photographer based out of Greenville, South Carolina. I’m a wife and a beagle mom. The three of us have visited beautiful places in every corner of South Carolina, to include all 48 of our state parks. We love finding new outdoor places to visit, but we also love hanging out on the couch and watching Pixar.

One thing I love about South Carolina is that it’s not just the beaches and colorful houses that you imagine when you picture it. Whether you’re looking for mountains, beaches, or anything in between; I can help you find the perfect place for the two of you and make it as smooth of a day as possible. No matter how you two choose to spend your day, I’m happy you’re doing it the way that you want.

I can’t wait to meet you!
