Hanna and Ben were engaged at the Chimney Rock overlook on a hot summer morning!
Hanna had been to Lake Lure before, but neither of them had ever been to Chimney Rock State Park. They decided they wanted to go up on a weekend in July before they headed to Charleston. Ben told Hanna that they would be going somewhere nice for brunch afterwards, so they would need to dress nicely when they got to the park. We got to the park right as it opened, so Ben and Hanna had the whole overlook to themselves for a few minutes before I got up the elevator. Ben told Hanna he wanted to take a picture of her with the mountains behind her, and told her to face the view. After he took a picture, he got down on one knee. She said yes, and they had some quiet time to take it in before other visitors made it up the stairs.
The Chimney Rock overlook is pretty out in the open, so it can get warm there if there are no clouds or wind, and it felt hotter than it really was. After a few minutes of taking pictures at the overlook, we went back down the elevator to take some pictures in the tunnel, and then headed to the Lake Lure Flowering Bridge. The Flowering Bridge is designed to be beautiful at any time of year, but it stands out in the summertime because it's so green and the colorful flowers are all at their peak. We mostly had it to ourselves, so it was quiet and private for Hanna and Ben. One of the things I like the most about doing Chimney Rock and the Flowering Bridge in the same day is that the Flowering Bridge has a great view of the Chimney Rock overlook, so the couple can look back at the spot where they were just engaged.

Ready for the best day ever?
My name is Christine (Scott) Gow and I’m an elopement photographer based out of Greenville, South Carolina. I’m a wife and a beagle mom. The three of us have visited beautiful places in every corner of South Carolina, to include all 48 of our state parks. We love finding new outdoor places to visit, but we also love hanging out on the couch and watching Pixar.
One thing I love about South Carolina is that it’s not just the beaches and colorful houses that you imagine when you picture it. Whether you’re looking for mountains, beaches, or anything in between; I can help you find the perfect place for the two of you and make it as smooth of a day as possible. No matter how you two choose to spend your day, I’m happy you’re doing it the way that you want.
I can’t wait to meet you!
