Hannah and Caleb were engaged at Pretty Place Chapel in South Carolina!
When I talked with Caleb, he told me that he and Hannah live in Ohio. They met while they were in college in Michigan, where Caleb was on the bass fishing team. When it was cold in Michigan, the team would travel south to fish in lakes that weren’t frozen. He’s spent a good amount of time fishing in upstate South Carolina, and during one of his fishing trips, he visited Pretty Place. When he and Hannah made a trip to Knoxville for a concert, they decided to add Pretty Place onto the trip.
The day that Caleb proposed was a cool and sunny spring evening, close to sunset. The chapel had just reopened after a private event, so not many people were in the chapel yet. I sat off to the side, where I determined the light would be best at that time of day, and waited for Caleb and Hannah to get there. They walked down to take a photo with the cross, and Caleb got down on one knee. I was so happy that the other people in the chapel stayed quiet and let them have their moment without cheering or jumping up to take pictures!
We took some photos in the chapel and around it. There were some beautiful pink flowers in a bush in front of the chapel, and the woods had turned so lush and green. After taking pictures for a while, Caleb and Hannah agreed to go down the road to Caesars Head State Park, one of my favorite spots. While Pretty Place faces east, Caesars Head faces west, so it has a really good view of the sunset. The sunset didn’t disappoint, and it was my first time seeing the bushes blooming at Caesars Head!

Ready for the best day ever?
My name is Christine (Scott) Gow and I’m an elopement photographer based out of Greenville, South Carolina. I’m a wife and a beagle mom. The three of us have visited beautiful places in every corner of South Carolina, to include all 48 of our state parks. We love finding new outdoor places to visit, but we also love hanging out on the couch and watching Pixar movies.
One thing I love about South Carolina is that it’s not just the beaches and colorful houses that you imagine when you picture it. Whether you’re looking for mountains, beaches, or anything in between; I can help you find the perfect place for the two of you and make it as smooth of a day as possible. No matter how you two choose to spend your day, I’m happy you’re doing it the way that you want.
I can’t wait to meet you!
