Melanie and Dan eloped in the mountains of South Carolina!
They wanted to visit Greenville after their friends talked about how much they loved the city. Eventually, they decided that it also sounded like the place where they wanted to get married.
When Melanie and Dan told me about their ideas, they told me they love natural scenery, especially mountains. They also love wine, and we started talking about winery options here. Even though North Carolina has taller mountains and a bigger wine scene than South Carolina, they decided to stay in South Carolina, and chose Victoria Valley Vineyards. This winery has a view of Table Rock and is just down the road from Table Rock State Park.
The elopement was just a few weeks after Hurricane Helene, so for a few days, everything was up in the air. In the three days that I didn’t have power, I eventually saw a post from Victoria Valley Vineyards saying that they were okay. They told us later that they had lots of last-minute bookings to accommodate people whose venue had been damaged in the storm. After some more waiting, I found out that Table Rock State Park was partially open, which included the parts that we had talked about using for the elopement.
The day of the elopement was a perfect fall day—sunny in the low 70s. Melanie and Dan met with the venue coordinator and drove around to find a perfect spot for their elopement ceremony, eventually deciding on a spot among the vines at the top of a hill, just far enough away from everyone who was at the winery that day.
After the ceremony, we took some photos around the vineyard. There was a small table set up facing the vines for Melanie and Dan to have a wine tasting and cut their cake. When those were finished, we drove down to Table Rock State Park, where we saw two small waterfalls and had a beautiful view of the mountains over the water.
Melanie and Dan had dinner together in downtown Greenville after the sun went down. They described the day as an “adventure” and said that it went by so quickly. They had one more full day in Greenville as a married couple to hike, eat, and see what the city had to offer, before going back home to Tennessee.

Ready for the best day ever?
My name is Christine (Scott) Gow and I’m an elopement photographer based out of Greenville, South Carolina. I’m a wife and a beagle mom. The three of us have visited beautiful places in every corner of South Carolina, to include all 48 of our state parks. We love finding new outdoor places to visit, but we also love hanging out on the couch and watching Pixar movies.
One thing I love about South Carolina is that it’s not just the beaches and colorful houses that you imagine when you picture it. Whether you’re looking for mountains, beaches, or anything in between; I can help you find the perfect place for the two of you and make it as smooth of a day as possible. No matter how you two choose to spend your day, I’m happy you’re doing it the way that you want.
I can’t wait to meet you!
