Maggie and Stephen had an intimate wedding at Iron Oak Barn in Pendleton, SC!
In December, I did photos for Maggie and Stephen’s proposal at Issaqueena Falls in Oconee County, South Carolina. It was pouring down rain, but we had so much fun with the photos! I was so excited when they asked me to be part of their intimate wedding in the mountains of North Carolina the next fall!
But after almost 10 months of planning a North Carolina mountain wedding, Hurricane Helene had other plans. It wouldn’t be safe or feasible to travel to their venue from any direction, and the government was advising people against traveling to the area. 3 days before the wedding, Maggie and Stephen secured Iron Oak Barn in Pendleton, South Carolina.
Well, eight days before their wedding, Hurricane Helene decided to shake things up all over western North Carolina. A few days later, Maggie and Stephen secured Iron Oak Barn in Pendleton, South Carolina. That was just one of the many things out of their control that happened in the week leading up to their wedding, but you would never know based on how chill they were the whole day and how well everything came together.
Everything in their wedding was a beautiful blend of fall color. The tables were made up of deep red and orange napkins and antique glassware in different colors. Stephen chose a sage green suit with eggplant-colored socks. They had a Pittsburgh cookie table that looked and smelled so good as I was taking photos of it before the ceremony. One of my favorite things about their wedding was Maggie’s veil, which was cathedral-length and embroidered with colorful fall flowers and leaves. When it was time to do their couple portraits, the best light happened to be coming through a huge tree that had fallen in the storm–almost like a reminder of how we ended up in that spot in the first place.
