Karenna and Clay were engaged on the pier at Table Rock State Park!
They met while they were students at Clemson. They don’t live in the area anymore, but they’re always looking for reasons to come back to Clemson, since it means so much to them. They picked a beautiful April day to go to a baseball game. Clay told Karenna they were stopping at Table Rock State Park in Pickens before dinner. It was a beautiful day and they’d enjoyed hiking there years ago, so it made sense to check it out. When they got to the pier, Clay asked me if I could take a photo on his phone. After I took a couple of photos, Clay got down on one knee and asked Karenna to marry him.
Even though it was a Saturday night, not many people were around. This park is so quiet–just the still of the mountains and Lake Oolenoy. We had a few trees still in bloom, which we used for some of the ring photos. Even though the sunset wasn’t very dramatic, it still gave a beautiful glow, especially over the lake. Karenna asked me to take a few photos of them on her film camera, which was fun because I haven’t used one in a long time. Once the sun was gone, Karenna and Clay headed back to their hotel in Greenville, where they had dinner at Jianna.
