Webb and Jessica were engaged at Wildcat Wayside in South Carolina!
Webb chose Caesars Head State Park for their proposal because it’s a spot they’d visited before and loved. He coordinated stopping there between a trip to an apple orchard and lunch with friends. After I arrived, the park staff closed off the parking lot because so many people were there. Webb and Jessica turned around and parked at a nearby lot to walk there, but they ran into someone who said he had just walked there and was turned away. I was standing by the visitor center to get WiFi and send iMessages, and Webb said they were going to Wildcat Wayside instead.
Since we weren’t starting the drive from the same point and I was further back, I wouldn’t arrive until a few minutes after them. Webb decided he couldn’t string Jessica along any longer to actually propose, so he proposed before I got there and we recreated the proposal at the second waterfall. Since it was early November, the leaves at Wildcat Wayside were mostly yellow and brown, and they laid beautifully on the lower waterfall. Even though it wasn’t the location we planned for, it was still a perfect fall day at a beautiful location. Webb and Jessica headed off to the lunch they had planned in downtown Greenville with their friends, who knew about the plan the whole time.
