Alex and Sandi came down from Ohio to visit upstate South Carolina and western North Carolina. They’d seen Pretty Place on TikTok a few years ago and wanted to come see it in the fall, but Hurricane Helene postponed their plans. Alex had told Sandi that they’d have photos done at Pretty Place at sunrise, but he didn’t tell her he was planning to propose!
This was my first time back at Pretty Place since Hurricane Helene came through 7 months ago, so I didn’t know exactly what it would look like. The bush out front that has beautiful pink flowers in the spring was gone. The woods next to the chapel were pretty sparse—lots of trees came down in the hurricane. Alex reserved the chapel, so we had it ALL to ourselves. There was no clapping when Sandi said yes, just the quiet of the morning. It was a clear day, so it was pretty light outside before the sun even came up.
After we chatted with the security guard for a bit, I realized Caesars Head State Park would be open by then. Alex and Sandi were willing to go check it out since it was only a few minutes in the other direction for them. Nobody was there yet, so we had the view to ourselves. We looked out at the mountains, we squeezed through Devil’s Kitchen, and walked through the woods.
Since it was Alex and Sandi’s first time in the area, Alex and I talked a lot about what to do during their trip. He surprised her with a helicopter tour the next day and got an aerial view of downtown Greenville and some of the mountains and lakes. They went to the Botanical Gardens in Clemson, which was in peak spring color.

Ready for the best day ever?

My name is Christine (Scott) Gow and I’m an elopement photographer based out of Greenville, South Carolina. I’m a wife and a beagle mom. The three of us have visited beautiful places in every corner of South Carolina, to include all 48 of our state parks. We love finding new outdoor places to visit, but we also love hanging out on the couch and watching Pixar movies.
One thing I love about South Carolina is that it’s not just the beaches and colorful houses that you imagine when you picture it. Whether you’re looking for mountains, beaches, or anything in between; I can help you find the perfect place for the two of you and make it as smooth of a day as possible. No matter how you two choose to spend your day, I’m happy you’re doing it the way that you want.
I can’t wait to meet you!
