I’ve lived in the Greenville area since 2016 and I think my first photo session in downtown Greenville was in 2017. Falls Park is the centerpiece of this corner of the state, but there are so many little spots in it that are beautiful. Here are some of my recommendations for where to elope in Falls Park!
If you’re wondering how to elope in Greenville, here is the process. Also check out this blog post with what to do in downtown Greenville after your elopement!
How to Elope at Falls Park
You should get a permit through the City of Greenville. Even it’s just the two of you, you still don’t want to crash another couple who did get a permit and is entitled to that spot, and you want to be in communication with the city in case there’s another event planned that day or there’s an emergency. If it’s more than the two of you, it’s always a good idea to make sure there’s a plan for having that many people in one area.

Places to Elope in Falls Park
Reedy River Falls
What other city has a waterfall in the middle of downtown? If you get the right angle, it won’t even look like you’re in a city! This photo was taken on a Sunday morning right before it rained, so there were barely any people outside! I don’t recommend getting too far into the falls because it’s rocky and the water is contaminated, so it’s not really in the best interest for time and safety to go much further than what you see in this photo.

Medusa Tree
Also called the Root Tree, this is along the Swamp Rabbit Trail, right next to the end of the Liberty Bridge. These roots kept growing after the ground around it was dug out. I think this would be perfect for an elopement near Halloween!
Wyche Pavilion
You will have to check with the owners in advance about using this for your ceremony to make sure it’s not already reserved that day. This covered pavilion is a great option if the forecast calls for rain (like it did for this couple). Fun fact: this is actually the original Duke’s Mayonnaise factory!

Carolina Foothills Garden Club Sanctuary
Some people don’t even realize this is here because it’s almost hidden in the woods! I had to do some digging to even find the name of this area. It’s a great place to find shade when the sun is still high and it has a little more privacy than the rest of downtown. Plus, the sun comes from behind the little waterfall, which gives you really pretty light!

Overlooking Downtown
There are several places in downtown Greenville with an amazing view of the city. You will need to contact the owner before arranging to have your ceremony at any of these places. Here are a few of them:
Ready to elope in Greenville?

My name is Christine (Scott) Gow and I’m an elopement photographer based out of Greenville, South Carolina. I’m a wife and a beagle mom. The three of us have visited beautiful places in every corner of South Carolina, to include all of our state parks. But most days, the three of us are home on the couch watching something like Pixar or Back to the Future.
One thing I love about South Carolina is that it’s not just the beaches and colorful houses that you imagine when you picture it. Whether you’re looking for mountains, beaches, or anything in between; I can help you find the perfect place for the two of you and make it as smooth of a day as possible. No matter how you two choose to spend your day, I’m happy you’re doing it the way that you want.
I can’t wait to meet you!
