One of the most beautiful wedding venues in upstate South Carolina is Cliffs at Glassy Chapel. This is a perfect spot for someone who loves the mountains or someone who wants a venue with a stunning indoor and outdoor option for an elopement.
This beautiful stone chapel sits at the top of a cliff in Landrum, South Carolina, right along the North Carolina border. It faces the rock face of Glassy Mountain and everything down below. This chapel is in the private Cliffs at Glassy community, so your name will have to be on a list in order to go see it.
On the outside, this chapel has a high steeple with glass windows all around. Behind the chapel, there is a cross in the grass, which could also serve as a beautiful ceremony spot for an elopement or micro-wedding.
On the inside, the sanctuary has beautiful stone walls. The windows behind the altar are high, letting in tons of light for your ceremony. The bathrooms are right outside the doors to the sanctuary and there’s a small getting-ready area.
The chapel offers 2-hour booking slots and has elopement packages available at specific times of day and week. The chapel holds up to 216 people, but is still a great spot if you don’t want to have guests.
Cliffs at Glassy Chapel is wheelchair-accessible and the parking lot is close to the chapel, so it’s a good option for people who want to see the mountains, but also want to accommodate someone who uses a wheelchair or other mobility aids.
There are tons of beautiful plants all around the chapel, but there’s also a beautiful little garden overlook you can stop at on your way out of the chapel.
While the Cliffs at Glassy community is a bit remote, there are a few places nearby to have a reception. Ballenger Bridge is about 15 minutes away and Red Horse Inn is about 20 minutes away. If you want some additional scenery, Campbell’s Covered Bridge and Poinsett Bridge are both about 20 minutes away. Downtown Landrum is around 25 minutes away, downtown Greer is about 40 minutes, and downtown Greenville is about an hour.

Ready for the best day ever?
My name is Christine (Scott) Gow and I’m an elopement photographer based out of Greenville, South Carolina. I’m a wife and a beagle mom. The three of us have visited beautiful places in every corner of South Carolina, to include all 48 of our state parks. We love finding new outdoor places to visit, but we also love hanging out on the couch and watching Pixar movies.
One thing I love about South Carolina is that it’s not just the beaches and colorful houses that you imagine when you picture it. Whether you’re looking for mountains, beaches, or anything in between; I can help you find the perfect place for the two of you and make it as smooth of a day as possible. No matter how you two choose to spend your day, I’m happy you’re doing it the way that you want.
I can’t wait to meet you!
