Landen and Kadie were engaged on a beautiful fall evening at the Caesars Head State Park overlook.
Landen and Kadie made a weekend trip to the South Carolina mountains from western Tennessee and Alabama. They were drawn to the area because they’d seen photos of Pretty Place, but since they weren’t sure if it’d be open while they were in the area. They chose to see Caesars Head instead, since that was nearby and also had a really beautiful view of the mountains. When they took a selfie at the overlook, I offered to take a photo on their phone. Kadie handed me her phone, and after I took a few photos, I switched to my camera as Landen got down on one knee. After Kadie said yes, I handed her phone back with a watermelon Ring Pop in my hand–something she and Landen had always joked would be part of their proposal. We took a few photos of the ring with the Ring Pop later.
We were just starting to get some fall color at Caesars Head, but there were also some beautiful flowers around the park, which we used for some photos. After the proposal itself, we had a little bit of a crowd, which isn’t surprising for a Saturday night in October. We even saw another proposal not long after theirs! The sunset was one of the best sunsets I’ve seen there, and I couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful night for them.
After the sun went down, Landen took Kadie to dinner at Jianna, one of the restaurants I’d suggested to him, and they said they loved it. They walked through the botanical gardens at Clemson the next day before they headed home.

More from the South Carolina Mountains
Ready for the best day ever?
My name is Christine (Scott) Gow and I’m an elopement photographer based out of Greenville, South Carolina. I’m a wife and a beagle mom. The three of us have visited beautiful places in every corner of South Carolina, to include all 48 of our state parks. We love finding new outdoor places to visit, but we also love hanging out on the couch and watching Pixar movies.
One thing I love about South Carolina is that it’s not just the beaches and colorful houses that you imagine when you picture it. Whether you’re looking for mountains, beaches, or anything in between; I can help you find the perfect place for the two of you and make it as smooth of a day as possible. No matter how you two choose to spend your day, I’m happy you’re doing it the way that you want.
I can’t wait to meet you!
