Jonathan and Merissa were engaged at Camp Greenville on a summer morning at sunrise!
They had made a trip to Greenville a few years ago for their dating anniversary. It was almost their anniversary again, so they decided to make another trip. They’re from the coast, where there aren’t any mountains, so they loved having a change of scenery. Little did Merissa know, they would also be celebrating an engagement.
Jonathan wasn’t planning to tell Merissa where they were going that morning. Neither of them had ever been to the chapel, so the first time they’d see the view in person would be when they arrived. He asked me whether there were signs leading up to it, which there are, so he knew she would probably pick up on what was happening while they were still in the car. He planned it out so that they would be alone in the car when they’d be talking, but the moment itself would be in one of the most beautiful places he could think of. He pointed me out as they walked in so I could get photos of them walking in without her getting confused.
We spent about the next hour taking photos as the sun came up. It was a clear day with some low clouds in the distance, so we got some red and pink in the sky before we saw the sun. The temperature was already in the mid-70s at sunrise, so we knew that would probably be the extent of their outdoor time that day. They ate at The Lazy Goat and Jianna in downtown Greenville later that day to celebrate.
If you’re thinking about an engagement at Camp Greenville like this one, here is everything you should know. Enjoy my photos of Jonathan and Merissa’s sunrise proposal at Pretty Place!
More from the South Carolina Mountains
Ready for the best day ever?
My name is Christine (Scott) Gow and I’m an elopement photographer based out of Greenville, South Carolina. I’m a wife and a beagle mom. The three of us have visited beautiful places in every corner of South Carolina, to include all 48 of our state parks. We love finding new outdoor places to visit, but we also love hanging out on the couch and watching Pixar movies.
One thing I love about South Carolina is that it’s not just the beaches and colorful houses that you imagine when you picture it. Whether you’re looking for mountains, beaches, or anything in between; I can help you find the perfect place for the two of you and make it as smooth of a day as possible. No matter how you two choose to spend your day, I’m happy you’re doing it the way that you want.
I can’t wait to meet you!
