Jesse and Jami were engaged on a summer evening in the mountains of South Carolina!
They’ve been friends for a long time–actually, their grandparents have been friends for a long time, and then their parents. Jesse’s parents moved from Florida to western North Carolina and told him how much they loved Pretty Place at YMCA Camp Greenville. During one of Jesse and Jami’s trips to see Jesse’s parents, they made a whole day trip around the mountains to vineyards and apple orchards. They ended the day at Pretty Place. Jesse asked me to take a photo on his phone, then I switched to my camera and he proposed!
It was a Friday evening in the summer, so there was a decent number of people in the chapel, but it wasn’t packed like it would have been at sunrise. Jami didn’t even realize that her parents and grandparents were in the chapel when the proposal happened! Jesse, who works for Apple, made sure her parents had their locations turned off so Jami wouldn’t know that they were leaving Florida. They all headed to Jesse’s parents’ house afterwards so they could all celebrate together.
Jesse made sure Jami had another dress and extra makeup in the car because he knew she would want it. We headed down the road to Caesars Head State Park to get a better view of the sunset and to get away from the people. Jesse said he hadn’t heard of Caesars Head until I told him about it, but he was super excited to see it after I showed him some photos. They were so full of smiles and laughter the whole time, and it was so much fun to be part of this day with them and their families!

More from the South Carolina Mountains
Ready for the best day ever?
My name is Christine (Scott) Gow and I’m an elopement photographer based out of Greenville, South Carolina. I’m a wife and a beagle mom. The three of us have visited beautiful places in every corner of South Carolina, to include all 48 of our state parks. We love finding new outdoor places to visit, but we also love hanging out on the couch and watching Pixar movies.
One thing I love about South Carolina is that it’s not just the beaches and colorful houses that you imagine when you picture it. Whether you’re looking for mountains, beaches, or anything in between; I can help you find the perfect place for the two of you and make it as smooth of a day as possible. No matter how you two choose to spend your day, I’m happy you’re doing it the way that you want.
I can’t wait to meet you!
